For sale, Argocat

Post by rodp » 03 Jun 2015, 21:45

OK men, I've decided to sell my Argo and thought I would give anyone on here first chance before ebay. I'm going back to a quad for several reasons, mostly because I store this in a container on the trailer and it's a pain to reverse in on my own (son left home .... at last). It's about a foot step up into the container so means reversing up ramps etc and I just don't want the hassle now.

The Argo,
It's had loads of work done to it although it was mechanically sound when I bought it. It's been space framed to stop the dreaded droop, front and rear winch mounts, tow points and seat frames are all tied into the space frame. It's got good tyres all round, splined shafts, duplex chains (good), all good tensioners, alternator conversion, rear mounted large battery to run the two winches, fold down screen and roll bar (will fit in lwb Transit), new front and rear seats (colour coded backrest ) 8-) It's also got a steel body band, they're an absolute bitch to make but worth it.
It had a carb rebuild kit fitted with new jets and needles (genuine) all new plugs, leads, points and condenser. Engine is excellent as is the gearbox.

The bad bits, Volt meter isn't wired up (forgot to do it) , Front axle bearings have very slight play now but have the material (HDPE) to make the new synthetic type, bottom of lower tub was patched when I bought it (it's good so I left it)
That's it I think, very minor as you can see.

This is a good Argo, not the junk you usually see for sale.

These are frighteningly good off road, they cross bogs, fallen trees, ditches etc and climb hills that make your butt clench. Turning circle is minimal as they're skid steer and they carry / tow a fair bit of weight.

Asking £2450 but will consider brand name 4x4 quad in part exchange and don't mind relatively minor work (I like messing)
Serious offers considered but if you know Argo's you'll know this isn't expensive

Those were Amphicats, not Argocats, and if I remember correctly they were the Canadian version. Yes, I know I'm sad and no one should really know such trivial things about amphibs

The really sad thing is we have one in at the moment being rebuilt for a customer into a space 1999 replica (moon buggy, google it)
