Black Sun Spotter-Add-On rigs

I can now take orders for these new T50 Black Sun equipped Spotter-Add-On rigs, the first one is ready and I will only be stocking one at a time.

They are basically an E700 based modular add on NV rifle rig with only two modules and one trailing cable to connect, having an extra aspect that it can double up as a wide angle spotter best used within moderate range. The very rigid Dayscope Adaptor Tube is machined from solid Delrin and has a mini weaver rail bolted through its top to carry the main module containing the batteries, monitor and illuminator etc.

It is primarily designed to fit the modern Hawke range of scopes with slightly variable 43mm eye bell diameters. Those scopes have a fractionally larger rubberised ocular adjustment diameter than the eye bell which is best to be raised slightly so the DSA slides on without interfering with the scope point of aim. Two turns of masking tape raises the diameter in a much more stable way than could be achieved with vinyl tape that stretches and migrates away over time - or very thin shims that will inhibit the stability of the adaptors: No shifting crosshair if it gets a little nudge.

I can machine the DSA slightly smaller to force onto the ocular adjuster if anybody wants that: There are plenty of hose pipe adaptor builds that do that - but I feel more rigid Delrin could damage the rubber, affect the point of aim and possibly erode the anodising over time. I can also machine the DSA to fit other diameter plain eye bells... to a slight plus tolerance that rely's on the buyer 'masking' up the slack - or bring your scope to me for a custom machined friction fit while you wait at no extra cost.

Both switches and camera cable socket are now fitted to the base of the box.

The rig is mounted to the rifle very solidly via a Black Sun equipped T50 illuminator clamped to a 25/30mm scope adaptor.

They will be supplied with a 16mm lens fitted as default because it seems most people prefer that size in relation to what is seen on their monitor when fitted to their rifle. The result is the spotter has a wider field of view than I prefer which shows the quarry rather small on the screen in spotter mode.

Sold subject to completion - and currently out of Black Sun IR's.

Can have another built in a day or two, with either a T38 for a bit less or a T70 ish for a bit more.

Despite me not advertising add on's recently I'm getting some PM enquiries about both types as the nights begin to draw in again.

Rather than make a drawn out private message reply each time, it seems prudent to add a link to a thread about them not being suited to heavy recoil rifles - partly depending on which 18650 batteries a buyer uses. Please click on this link to read it: http://nightvisionforumuk.com/viewtopic ... 16&t=15605

In addition to that issue, after trying some heavy knock tests with the batteries fully restrained, I traced a similar power break to the forward facing latching push switches. Both switches have now been relocated to face downwards.

A further revision - unrelated to the power break, is the 'camera in' trailing cable socket shown in the video is now fixed to the base of the box. I fit it so the white strand of the three core cable faces to the right. When inserting the camera cable plug into the socket think of a ditty to the effect of 'White To The Right'

Note the 'monitor in' cable socket is now also fixed and has the white core facing upwards - white being easier to see in low light. As seen here:

They are regular quick release scope mounts for 20mm rails:
