M42 lens spotter with foxeer camera @ £130 SOLD

Post by some bloke » 21 Jan 2019, 16:40

M42 lens spotter for sale at £130 - made with some bespoke surplus parts. Price includes RMSD - to UK postcodes only.

I'm clearing out some stuff in the process of retiring from night vision builds.

There were a lot of posts around tinternet a while ago from people checking out Foxeer Night Wolf cameras - so I had to check one out myself. I was quite surprised to see its not half bad for spotters if a wide sensor view mounting method and lens is used, though I'd not personally use it for an add on.

I'm also using up some surplus M42 lenses and lens adaptors etc. The used 50mm F1.8 Pentacon M42 lens is about as good as you can get for this purpose because of the lens coatings that were specifically made to suit the old film type cameras that had to have superior Infra Red pass abilty. They would have cost a good weeks wages in their day.

There will be several NV users with redundant IR LED torches who have recently splashed out on new laser illuminators so here is a great way to put those LED torches to good use, the torch mount is for 25mm tube torches.

Those who know me will be aware my usual spotters are getting on for £300 with an E700 camera inside and integrated illuminator.

I never supply batteries due to the crazy things some people do with them - and try to get compo for, so a buyer needs to supply two 18650 batteries for this.

The 800x480 5" monitor has two fine 1 pixel deep fault lines in the upper part of the image, add £20 to the price for a new one without that issue.

Note the spotter can be held out of a truck window or sunroof while the monitor remains out of sight inside the vehicle thanks to a trailing cable.

An optional extra is the pan and tilt powerfull mag mount base that can be fitted instead of the machined handle at £30.

If you do not have a redundant illuminator torch I have an as new Torch Factory TF38 with an AS IR pill in it for an additional £20 available if bought and shipped with this unit.

You get a better view of the magnetic base in use here:

What sort of range has this got and how does it compare to a e700.

Easily 350/400 yards in decent moonlight or with a decent illuminator, not quite as good as an E700 - but its not the price of an E700 spotter either.

I'm listing an E700 based non integrated illuminator spotter with different clearance parts a bit later, will be more expensive though because of the E700 camera which is not surplus stock.

If you are Leicester side of Cambridge you can come take a looksee (at both - and a roof mouned alternative/wifi one at my local 350 yard golf practice range with no obligation or expectation to buy it. Most nights are OK if pre arranged the day before in case wife has the car. Should also be able to show you a kwikfit if you are interested in comparing it to anything you might have.

Looking to swap this for a non airgun focus adjustable vari mag scope from about 3~4 mag up to 12~16 mag with low turrets that won't foul a torch and a simple uncluttered non mildot type retical such as 4a or similar.
