Re: ir torch wanted
okay... have a look at the ILLUMINATION section... the boys put together a KIT of sorts... you buy off the shelf components, i think they quoted about 60 pounds? It should do better than 100 by a good bit i think.
i wanna say its a a crelant head, and they found a cheap body for it...
other than that, you just drop in a OSLON emitter. Couple members here sell the emitters (its the best ayones found yet, the oslon) and i just got one made up intoa "drop in". Quite reasonable, i thought...
th whole idea of the crelant off the shelf kit? You dont need a LATHE or to commission a machinist, you can order a few bits, slap it together, and get performance.
last i read, it was compared side by side with one of the best commercial "over 200 pounds" units, and it was just as good. You put the spare 140+ pounds to better use elsewhere...

Well, I understand that, boys... but see, my CAT gets the silly idea you're making fun of HIM... then he gets, *really* mean...

There is information relating to the build you mention that some may take from it, that you just buy a crelant head and Screw it to a T20 Torch. I bought two T20 torches and had 25 Crelant head. Not one of the 25 heads would screw onto the T20 torch. The thread on the T20 torch is a 1.25 pitch thread, the thread on the Crelant head is a 1.5mm pitch thread. You Try mr sedstar and screw these two different thread pitches together and see how far you get. Some people were lucky to get a Crelant head that had a very slack threaded area. They were wrapping tape around the threads on the T20 and basically making a new thread on the tape.
People on the forum are buying Crelant heads and finding that they do not fit the T20.
I have never tried the T20 with an Oslon 850nm init. I can say that the T20 with the white led will get you to 100y and more but it is not a bright illumination. It almost seems like a dull illumination. Now I was never used to using a torch. There fore my opinion is compared to what I was used to. If you hunt Ras and rabbits with an air rifle, I would say this will do you fine. For Foxing, I would not use one. I would not have thought that the illumination is bright enough to get the mag on the scope up very high. As I said, I have never tried it at night with an Oslon 850nm. It may perform way better than the White light led does.
I have one here that has a Crelant head attached and an extra battery tube, just needs a pill dropped in to test at night. I will get around to it.
I have asked and asked I do not know how many times for a link to a video of someone using a T20 with an Oslon 850nm led. Non have ever surfaced. If they have, please send me the link. For something that has had as much coverage on the forum and prompted many to buy to replicate. I am surprised there has been no video.
As for comparing to a comercial unit. Show them both in a video and let us see the results.

the standard t20 with a watec addon gives a bright shootable image to 150yrds+......with a n550 250yrds......gen3 as far as you want
ian, i think it was torchwood posted some footage of his t20 and cheapo cam a while ago

What was the distance you were filming on the Youtube video. It looked close in to me. There certainly was plenty illumination, not knowing what the distance was does not help. It certainly is better results with the Oslon that the white light led.
I would still like to see some 150y footage and 250y with the Pulsar. There is people that have my illuminator that have an/pvs 14's which are gen 3 and they can not see as far as they would like, so I doubt the T20 is going to do better.
I will get an Oslon pill in the one I have here and try it tomorrow night. I need to rewire my spotter so that I can switch off the Bosch yet still see the illumination from the T20 with my camera and screen.

Re: ir torch wanted
I don't have exact measurements but I would guess that white box looking thing in the video is about 100 yds. The trees behind it probably 120/130 and I was watching a mouse at that distance before I took the video. I was amazed how good the beam was even with the Cree in it
Re: ir torch wanted
when i said gen3 did i mean dedicated or addon?.....thats the thing with n.v its very subjective and infinitely variable. chas tried ebay drop in type led i.r and found it too bright with his gen2 dedicated
