Missed this can you solder the connections instead of the long connectors because of space inside project box and can the four button one stay wired in and not drain the battery?id also like thinner wire On mine also what about price for members on here Igors
Cheers

Ive got one of these crosshair generators from igors, i havent put it into practice yet but i have given it a test on the bench.

My suggestions are

- solder wires directly to the boards and use small connectors on the wires to be able to unplug the keypad.
- use thin silicone wires instead of plastic, the plastic ones are too tough and dont allow much movement

Cheers

I totally agree that it is better to solder the wires you use connectors.
And probably best to deliver a set of components without soldering, but then the user can not immediately turn on and check the OSD board that it is working.
Usually, people with self-assembling make mistakes that can kill the OSD board. Then the problems begin. In fact, it goes as KIT.
The user can change the wire, buttons, cable length as it is convenient for assembly in the housing. If people have experience in soldering and assembly, no problem, we can supply all separately (OSD board, button, DC-DC converter).
And of course for the members of the forum minus 5usd operates continuously (direct PayPal invoice, purchase without eBay). Thanks to everyone for their interest and helpful advice. It would be interesting to hear opinions on the use of OSD PCB. :)

Yes that's what I was thinking save on space  and leave the five button thing on it for wind and elavation in the field

About to unplug the keypad ( 5 buttons ) with OSD on Atmega328.

All 5 buttons of the keypad are used. When you switch on device, you need select 1 of 4 remembered crosshair.
You need push Center and one of direction button together.
Right crosshair will appear on the screen. After this direction keys can move the crosshair or select another type of crosshairs. To memorize the new selection must again press the Center button + direction. Total can remember 4 different versions.

Option on Atmega8 has only one memory.
To remember the position and shape of the cross-hairs, just press the Center button.

Igors can't you do the same as this it's what I also asked for on a pm I have sent, solder the thinner fine silicone wires directly onto the board and do away with the connections your using I can buy nice slim ones to wire in on the wires

Hi,
yes it is possible to do without pins ( connectors). All wires soldered to the board directly.
Alternatively I can send only OSD PCB without wires and keyboards. Or OSD PCB and only buttons or OSD PCB and buttons soldered on boards.
Convenient to solder wires when mounted in the housing and make the desired length to the assembly of the whole device.

Do not forget about the power supply. The board is powered from 5V. For convenience, I can send the appropriate voltage converter to effectively get + 5V from any voltage from + 7V to + 20V.

So write me which option is most suitable for you.

Regards,
Igors
