New Collet Chuck DSA's @ £35

Post by some bloke » 11 Apr 2015, 11:38

Introducing the fully enclosed DSA that thinks its a four jaw quick release collet chuck: They just need a quick 1/4 twist to clamp it on or take it off once you have set up the clamping tension for your scope. These new spec one's cost me more but I'm only adding £5 to their cost for the basic DSA with optional extra collets and machined end cap.

The new spec is they have a coarser faster thread and they are now made from acetal which is better to machine so makes a tidier thread and are not hydroscopic so won't go slack at the rear end like the nylon one's.

They come with a standard floplas waste pipe end fitting that is a perfect fit for the KPC E700 low light camera.
An optional extra is a machined smooth end cap fitting for £10 if ordered with the DSA.

The Floplast fittings are a very tight friction fit that will allow up to 20mm eye relief adjustment.

There is ample space around the camera for the cable to pass round it and be taped to the wide inside of the adaptor to exit just behind the eyebell of your scope. You can drill your own hole in the side of it for that - or have it exit the rear or side of the end cap

These are made to fit 45mm smooth/uncluttered eyebell diameters only as default. Rather than cause all buyers to pay for reducing collets, knowing some will use bits of pipe etc I shall make custom shim collets to fit any other scope eyebell diameter the buyer requires at £10 each - which includes lathe setting up and sampling times.

I think and would hope for Dave's sake that this nifty bit of lateral thinking will be beyond the ebay and facebook parasites who's usual style is a lump of old radiator hose.

But having said that there are a couple of shed 'companies' that have ripped off Dave's and Marks products. It wouldn't be professional of me to say what I think about that!

Anyway well done Dave!

Cheers

Hey - thank you all for the nice comments - yep I think we've noticed the shameless ones thanks Clive.

Sorry Toni but it won't fit the 45mm eyebell of that Ziess conquest.

The current range of eyebell diameters it will fit is from 43.5mm down to 38mm.

This is the list they should fit with the supplied packing split tube, please advise of any not listed here:

LOL, they were the days - a good bit of Blue Peter-ing never hurt anyone.
