My Kwik Fit Add On is not rated for C/F use.

Some members may have noticed I have not relisted my Kwik Fit add On rig.

Whilst the rig is very rugged to handle you will have seen how the removable batteries are not rigidly restrained - and face rearwards.

Well I'm not so clever as I thought because some batteries can slightly shift for a millisecond and break electrical contact if you knock the device hard. That's no problem for a spotter but if it occurs with rifle recoil shoulder arrest it takes about a second for the monitor to restart.... just in time to miss the bullet strike.

After many attempts to resolve the issue I have found there are umpteen different 18650 battery diameters and lengths which affect the gripping tension of the battery holder in a way that simply cannot be relied on for all battery brands.

Since the issue has been found I have changed the battery carriers to stronger gripping one's and put some foam strip behind the monitor to dampen battery movement - but have not used one under heavy recoil. My largest calibre is only a tiny 17REM LVSF and I'm not totally happy about offering them for centre-fire calibre use.


I'm therefore feeling I can only recommend the Kwik-Fit Add On for rimfire and pcp rifle use.

Hi some bloke, I'm very new to the forum (Infact only joined yesterday) but part of my reason for joining was after seeing your kwik-fit rigs mentioned on the stalking directory in high regards. I had planned to hofully purchase one from you along with a spotter In the next month or so for foxing work with my .243 if I could offer any help with some R&D on the kwik-fit rigs I'd be happy to help.

That is a very kind offer BS thank you and welcome to the forum. I have just been over to the SD for a looksee and feel proud that members there feel they can endorse my item so highly - I know who some of them are and am very grateful.

I shall have to decline your offer though because of the inconsistent dimensions of 18650 cells. I honestly think I'd get by if all 18650's were the same size but there are just too many variables, some are too loose and some bulge the holders making the wrap around too slack. There is also a lot of inconsistency in the battery holders. I will categorically not supply anything with built in battery packs nor chargers.

I do have a fairly local friend with a 243 LVSF who has had the issue and I know of two buyers with light barrelled 243's who have also had occasional issues of battery shifting - one even knocked out the monitor which is a flip out friction fit. I know how I would feel if I'd paid out good money for that to happen to me. Both of those buyers have very graciously dealt with it themselves.

I also know of buyers using heavy barrelled 243's who do not have the issue with my more recent one's. I have recently supplied one to a forum member on a sale or return basis for him to try but to be honest it just doesn't sit well enough with me to look a man in the eye and assure him they are compatible for centrefire calibers. I value my reputation more than the few quid I'd get at the risk of a customer being disappointed.

If, after being made aware of my recommendations anyone still chooses to buy one I would allow one to be returned via RMSD within a 10 day trial period. I don't think I can be any fairer than that.

No problem at all, I thought you would more than likely know some one with a lager calibre rifle if testing was needed but thought I would offer anyway.

I see what you mean with the inconsitances in size with the batterys and holders, perhaps a retaining band or strap type retaining device could possibly be an option?

It speaks volumes about your self and products giving a 10 day refund offer, hats off to you.
Hopfully I'll be in touch soon for a spotter.

Think you're being a bit fussy here Dave, can't see anyone looking upon velcro as anything but belt and braces, it's just making double sure. If Certain thermal manufacturers are happy to sell 2k+ items that need battery terminals bending out to keep contact then surely no one's going to mind having to fasten a bit of velcro on an item that costs peanuts relative to a thermal

Got miles of the stuff here (literally, we buy it by the kilometre) if you want some to play about with.

EDIT: I've since realised a full refund could potentially cost me a fair packet - so have revised it to 'refund less £15' to cover my post, packing and trip to the Post Office, and for UK post codes only.
