Axes, what do you know about them ?
Re: Axes, what do you know about them ?
There are some fine looking pieces of steel and wood out there I have a feeling that there must be someone out there printing calendars full of scantily bikini clad lumberjills/girls/women wielding shinny sharp axes and hot revving chainsaws

Yes, we are on the right track "Sven Axel Wettering" he was called sawman in school because the family made axes

Yeah i wouldn't mind trying one of Tuatahi's working axes. Bit wide but will certainly work well

The second one's a beaut, the others look almost to good. I would say "forged" but of course they all are
Like the old and battered one, but not paying anything like that for an axe.

I am watching one double bit head that is finishing at 2.00am our time Rod, only problem for a bargain is when the stamped brand names or the forged trade marks are very clear and sharp there is usually keen bidding in the closing seconds. Lots of collectors in the US who never go near a tree
Thanks
Phil
Very clean forging and finishing on this chippies/roofers axe.

Re: Axes, what do you know about them ?
"I know it's an old thread, but maybe it will be a timely resurrection for someone, my choise it's Fiskars Chopping Axe like this . It's very comfortable in work, so I work with them a lot. The axe is suitable for felling trees thanks to beneficial weight distribution and innovative blade geometry.
If we speak about cons it's: great weight distribution, shock-absorbing handle, weather-resistant handle material, sharp blade edge, it feels durable and lightweight, affordable price.
Of course there are a lot of other good axe but i liked this. "
