Hi, my name is Andy and i'm looking for some advice for a NV set up for my .22-250. I was thinking on purchasing a Photon XT 6.5 x 50, but was wondering what be the preferred illumination, IR or Laser torch?

Hi Andy - welcome to the forum. I've not used an XT myself so I'll not offer any advice on that. Somone who has used one will be along soon.

Either will do the job, but the new generation of lasers such as the Solaris SRX will let you see further.
If you don't want to spend £135 on a Solaris, then a blacksun ruby illuminator such as the BR501 from NightVision Store will be almost as good at ranges up to about 200 yards
