PARD 007 /VORTEX DIAMONDBACK TACTICAL FFP

Hi everyone

I am just about to buy a cz 455 .22 rimfire.I would like to shoot 50% of the time with it by day and 50% by night.

The night shooting will be rats between 20-80 yards.

I would like to buy a FFP scope to use for day shooting ,ideally a Vortex Diamondback tactical FFP and use the pard 007 with it.

I can't find anything said about this combination.

Can anyone give me any info in regards if this combination would work well together.

I am concerned if the lenses in the Vortex are too good to let the IR through an at lowest scope mag and if i would be able to see the cross hairs.

I could buy the PARD 008 for night and the Vortex for day shooting if i could keep zero on both scopes when they are swapped over.

Sorry, but for shooting rats at 60-80 yards any make of 6-24 scope is a complete waste of money.
At that range, you want a wide field of view to be able to see the rats before you actually put the cross hairs on one.
The lower the scope magnification, the wider the field of view.
At 60-80 yards x3 or x4 is plenty
If you get the 007, make sure it's fitted with a 12mm lens otherwise, with the normal 16mm lens fitted, the add-on will magnify what you see through the scope by about x2 resulting in a reduction in field of view
Vortex scopes did not have a good reputation for working well with rear add-ons, but that may have changed
The Hawke Sidewinder 4-16x50 ffp is known to work well with add-ons and is about the same price as the Vortex.

Apologies, i should have said that it was the Vortex Diamondback 4-16 x44 FFP i was thinking of purchasing.

My initial choice for the rifle was a Vortex Viper Gen 2, 2-10x32 although i have read that the lens coatings on this scope will not work with the pard 007.

Do you use the Hawk FFP and the 007 yourself?

Is it possible to swap a day scope and the pard 008 on a regular basis and keep a perfect zero using a good set of tier 1 or nightforce rings.?

I did use the 007 on a Hawke Frontier 3-15x50 ffp scope (no longer available for some reason) and it was a very good combination
I've fitted, zeroed, removed and refitted 008s on a Tikka T1 rimfire and on a CZ527 in 22 hornet.
In each case the 008 had to be re-zeroed when they were refitted.

Was the hawk frontier/007 as clear as the 008 you are now using?

Virtually all glass scopes are better than digital scopes so, for daytime use, the Hawke gives a better image than the 008.
However, the 008 image is perfectly acceptable and the benefit of having a single scope that can perform well at any time day or night, for me, far outweighs the slight loss in image quality when compared to a glass scope.
However, not everyone agrees and lots of people are unwilling to give up on their high quality glass scopes for daytime use and are happy to put up with the faff of setting up the add-on and the compromised head position that shooting with the add-on fitted brings.
I guess it depends on where your shooting priorities are.

How Does the clarity of your old hawk scope and the PARD 007 compare to the PARD 008 In the dark?

The Hawke and 007 is probably a bit better at low magnifications when there's plenty IR coming through the scope.
At high magnifications,I think the 008 is better because there's a lot less IR coming through the scope
In each case I'm only using the on board IR illuminators.
Using an external IR illuminator would allow the Hawke/007 to work better at the upper end of it's magnification range.
For me, the onboard illuminator is a big deal since I don't like the extra weight and bulk of an external illuminator and it's simply not needed for the ranges I'm shooting at.

Probably the sidewinder and 007 with a 12mm lens
At 20 yards, the x6 magnifiction on the 008 is going to make it difficult to find the target.
