Hi from Neath South Wales

Post by smokingdragon » 23 Nov 2019, 18:46

hi
At the moment I;m having issues with foxes taking my ducks. All close range as they take them when they are queuing to go in their house at dusk. If I'm home earlier enough I can hide out and shoot any predator at close range, sub 20 mtrs with my gas semi auto Baikal, using 50 g BB.
From my trail cam I know the foxes are out once it is fully dark snooping around where the duck and geese have been. Obvios issue is that I can't see them in the dark, I've tried a light but that is not great.
I've seen a Pard NV008 and it will mount to the saddle mount of my SA but my worry is the recoil.

Anyone used a PARD on a semi auto 12g?

Cheers

Simon

The only person that can answer your recoil question would be the retailer prepared to sell you one to go on a 12 bore.
Had a quick look on the internet and it seems to be a fairly close call between a .308 which the Pard is rated and a 12 bore when it comes to recoil, if anything most that I found seem to rate the 12 bore as greater recoil but then go on to list numerous variables which may effect and possibly reverse there conclusion.
Have a ring around the retailers asking them is your best/safest bet.
Hope you get sorted.

Recoil wise I'd be more concerned about the eye relief (35-40mm depending on who you ask) and also the narrow FOV (6.3m @ 100m so 1.6m @ 25m).

thanks for the replies!

I'm trying on a red led head torch at the moment but fingers crossed, I haven't lost any more ducks in over a week so maybe I got the persistent one :-)

I can't recall where I saw it now - being so long ago but at one time there was a less visible/darker red than usual LED torch doing the rounds - maybe somebody else knows of it.

Google confirms 750nm LED's are available.
