Evening all
Has anyone any experience of this tripod?
I am thinking of using these for long range ratting with my Rimfire/pard 008lrf.
I am looking from a portable rock steady rest.
Any replies appreciated as always .
WICKED LIGHTS REKON TRIPOD
Re: WICKED LIGHTS REKON TRIPOD
I recently bought one from Scott Country that included the steel pig saddle.
It's certainly better than my 3 leg primos sticks, but it's not as good as suggested by some of the YouTube videos I watched.
In particular there is a 260RIPS video showing him shooting a fox size gong at 600 yards from both sitting and standing positions using the tripod.
OK, Mark Ripley is a much better shot than me, but when I put a rifle onto the tripod, it was nothing like stable enough for me to take a shot at a fox 200 yards away, let alone 600.
I also wanted it in my workshop to help Russ Douglas and I make video reviews of various bits of NV and thermal kit -it's fine for that purpose.
If it hadn't been for the workshop use, I'd have sent it back for a refund
Cheers
Bruce

Re: WICKED LIGHTS REKON TRIPOD
I Have the one from Optics warehouse called the Three legged thing with the X mount Clamp, it's good but like bruce says not as stable as the hype suggest, however i am in the throws of mounting an Arca swiss rail to my Rifle and i have a very good tripod coming with a 40kg payload, i use them when bore aligning the mounts i make. i think eliminating the clamp from the setup will stiffen things up a bit, because all of these clamps Hog saddle, Pig saddle, X mount ( used by the Royal marines ) all have rubber on them and rubbers flexible by it's very nature.
Re: WICKED LIGHTS REKON TRIPOD
Actually it PU (polyurethane) at least in Hog Saddle products, and claimed to help reduce some side effects with heavy recoiling guns. But yes metal to metal contact should introduce less play.
Thought to mention that, but main reason for posting was to cross-reference to the other thread on the subject so nobody will miss the warnings about Rekon being less than optimal Chinese stuff with inflated prices:
