Neither offered the 17 Rem in a stainless synthetic, so that's going to be a problem. Depending on budget, might be as well to look for a donor and re-barrel.

Slight de-rail:

If your friend is less selective and looking for an entire 17REM setup including loading gear etc I rarely use my LVSF rem 700 BDL/top loader and might let it go if it all goes in one deal.

I bought it as a high shot count rifle and succeeded in shooting it out while load developing then had an almost new LVSF barrel fitted by Mckillop who removed it for a guy who had bought a new 17REM but wanted a 20 TAC barrel fitting to his.

Its had much less than 1000 rounds through it but I've not kept a log. The black composite stock is showing its age. Also had the trigger upgraded but brain fade can't recall what it is. I run it slightly downloaded and its a cracking shot.

It currently has a Delta Titanium on it which could be included in a deal if wanted.

I understand the 17 hornet is a a decent step up from 17 HMR but not much heavier.... going by what I've read.
