Those alarm mines look scary. imagine if the dog was to trip one! hes scared of fireworks let alone land mines in the back garden. its taken him 3 years to not take the long route around the fish pond because of the electric fence. If he heard a mine go off he wouldnt go out in the garden ever again. haha
Silent Shooter wrote:I upgraded my cctv this year and it works better than the old system and was half the price of my old system, after a lot of research i got a 2 camera setup from Maplin complete with dvr for about £125.
It was a refurbished setup that had been returned damaged or unwanted and came with full warranty, they said it might not come in original box "but it did and looked totally untouched.
I added 2 more cameras wired it all up and to be honest I've never had one problem with it,you can also view on most smart phones "i have a samsung note 2 and its very clear indeed.
Think the whole setup ending up costing around £225 with the 2 extra cams,If you sign up for the maplin news letters you never know mate
I have one cam set on my koi pond and was a bit worried if the built in ir would work well hitting the water but its a fine,
Its that clear i have actually sat and watched and recorded my koi spawning.I will over the next few days send you the make and model etc,i didnt go for wirless as they can be a right pain in the harris

They dont seem to sell the refurbished stuff in the shops only in the newsletters when you sign up.if you want any more info drop me a pm with your number and i can give you a call
Geoff
Geoff, i find that Maplin are very overpriced in nearly everything they sell. im thinking that ebay will have a cheaper selection.
Cheers guys

Paul,
I think you will find that that camera would require a special licence. At least this is what I was told by the police officer.

Yes totally agree maplins are over priced and probably wouldn't have entertained them unless i had got the refurbished one for quite a bit less than half price, the dvr is remote controlled and has several very usable functions.
Also its the easiest replay i have ever used on any dvr,a mate of mine use to be in the home security business and was amazed at the night time quality it produces.

Thats the major plus point with the DVR system.
It will inform you of an intruder to your smart phone or tablet or PC including video footage.
I would go for a DVR system that used 700TVL cameras.
NOT the 400TVL i showed you earlier.
And your correct in thinking those 12bore black powder blanks are bloody loud.
Set the trip wire at the height of your fence or wall and about 1-2 ft away from the edge.
I thread mine through the hanging basket brackets.

+1 for police chatting rubbish
I had a copper tell me its ok for drivers to mount the footpath???
Told me the path is part of the highway, and as such its ok for them to drive down the path at speed.
The law states that having your CCTV camera's facing/overlooking your neighbors property should be
avoided. Yet its not illegal.
Thats why cameras have privacy masks.
But unless your neighbors complain i wouldnt bother.
The only time you can really get in trouble is if your camera is looking in peoples windows.

And that's possible when using a pan, tilt and zoom camera.
