Sony Xperia Z, any good

Post by rodp » 18 Apr 2014, 16:38

Hi men, a little advice needed from our younger / more savvy members needed please :D I need to change my moibile to a monthly tariff as it's costing a fortune on pay as you go (work use) Virgin offer a Sony Xperia Z for £24 month with 1000 minutes and unlimited texts. I'm happy with the minutes etc but how about the phone, any good?
Would I be able to run a laptop through this on site?
I like the idea of the good camera as (A) I use a camera for work, and (B) I like photography but don't always want to lug my DSLR everywhere.

I await your thoughts gents please. Oh, and bear in mind I'm mobile illiterate so know zero about them, I can press the buttons and send a text but that's all.

Thanks Adam, that's what I needed to know. The size doesn't bother me, in fact probably better as I'll be able to see it without putting my glasses on

Mmm, just looking through the tariffs again and I may be better off with a £15 monthly pay as you go, working on the calls I make. With that it's the Experia L that's on offer,. Is that one any good?

never used one but they look fine mate. tbh unless you are a techy, pretty much any half decent smart phone will do more than you will ever use

my tablet is the first samsung galaxy tab. i'v been threatening to upgrade it for ages. but i'm just so used to it and and still does everything i need

Suppose they will really, just being too fussy  main thing is a half decent camera and being able to run the laptop through it on site which I suppose most modern phones will do ???

camera will be "okay for a phone". but obviously it wont touch your DSLR...you can take decent pics with a phone as long as theres good lighting

you should be able to run your laptop with the phone no probs. either wirelessly or via USB
i don't know what apps come that experia but a quick wifi hotspot download off the market and your sorted...its what i'm using now

thats probably my fault....its now called google play, or just "play" on your phone's screen. it used to be called the android market, or just " the market"

if you download an app. you can turn your phone into a portable wifi hotspot (like you get on the train and mcdonalds and places like that)
then, assuming you've got wifi on your laptop, you can just connect up and yer away
