Thanks for reply, but as in post above this is to carry full load of winch. I already have the relays / solenoids sorted and this switch is to select which winch power goes to.

Rod,

I think this circuit will do what you want

One switch and one reversing relay for each winch. The only potential issue is that both winches could be operated at the same time (but that might not be a problem)
These switches would do the job (and they come with sealing covers)

Thanks Bruce, they more or less come as that standard. I wanted to isolate one winch while using the other that's why I wanted to use one control and a change over switch. No real reason other than (A) it would look "posh", and (B) it would cut down on reversing solenoids / relays which are always a scource of trouble, particularly when run in damp conditions and not used much (Don't like winching, it means your driving's crap  and you get dirty  )

However, looking at the size of 100 amp changeover switches I may abandon plan A and stick with something as you describe, some of the industrial switches look bigger than an Argo engine !!!

OK, this is my final attempt!

As soon as you press one switch, it immediately isolates the other switch so both winches cannot operate at the same time.

Ah, that's good, better than my idea  I'll take a better look at the drawing shortly to get my head round the wiring.

I like this one, no messing about with switches to isolate one and bring the other one in

Cheers Bruce.
