Near eye viewer/viewfinder

Post by Snapper » 05 Jun 2014, 14:48

B&W CRT viewfinder, checked and working at 5.5 V. This is used and from an old camcorder so has the odd mark here and there.

Just 3 wires, red +, black - and white AV, 140 mm long. £10 posted.

Pic is taken on a phone with the viewfinder rigged to a portable DVD player (Home Alone 2 - don't judge me!)

That's compact enough to try something with - I'll take it please.

Anyone got any ideas if it will run OK with two 18650's also driving the camera?

They can be very fussy about the voltage so an adjustable voltage regulator can help.

Yes, very true, but this is definitely 5.5 (well actually 5.46 V but I don't know how accurate my meter is), I've explained this in a PM to Some Bloke and given him details of the voltage reg I used.

I just hope I don't mess up using that between my power supply and the device.

If you set it a bit lower than you think you're going to need with a voltmeter and without anything attached to the output you should then be able to fit the viewfinder and increase the voltage until you get a good picture - just keep the meter attached to check what's happening. The output voltage will probably drop a little when there's a load on it.

Thank ee very much. I guess there will be instructions cos me no see an adjuster in the images unless it's that brass knob.

Dave,
The adjuster is the slotted brass knob on top of the blue box thing (it's a potentiometer)

Cheers
