Hi guys i have been useing a scope less build for the last 2 weeks now and have been really enjoying my first intro to the night vision world and things really do go bump in the night, thanks to all on this forum who have helped me along the way especially tourchwood ( thanks for all the coffees and smokes ) its a wealth of knowledge on here to which i am going to pursue alot further if my bank account lets me.

Anyway just woundering if anyone has or knows where i can get a 940nm for my 3 MODE T20ir 850nm SFH 4715s as i want to experiment with this type to see the results for myself. I belive its a simple process of changing this from 850nm to 940nm?

i am using a SONY 960H EXview HAD CCD II 700TVL 0.0003Lux ( miracle cottage ) with a 75mm 1.8 lens and 5" monitar will add photos later. And only using it at airgun ranges on my local permission.

Is the 940nm noticeably better/different to the 850nm anyone please?

Less likely to be seen by quarry. IIRC effectively 1/4 the illumination of the 850nm for the same power level.

I bought one off Ian (sika stag) to try and reduce the red glow you can see from the 850nm it reduced the glow by about a quarter but again I feel I am loosing in throw compared to the 850nm HTH.

It has the same power output as the 850nm but the camera is less sensitive to 940nm light than it is to 850nm light so you won't be able to see so far.

Excuse my ignorance lads but why have it if it doesn't perform as well as the 850?

Because 940 is less visible to potential quarry than 850, so there's less chance of spooking it.

Thanks for all the above info, as said i wanted to try the 940nm to have less red glow as i definitely experienced spooking the rabbits at about 40 yards the other night, was not 100% it was the torch glow or glare from the screen but have added a double layer privacy filter to monitor now ( works great in conjunction with reducing the screen brightness slightly ) so must be the torch.

before i order one can anyone give me a definitive opinion or experince with a 940nm on t20 at airgun ranges on land with flat ground and surrounding forest also exactly how much of the glow is reduced as some say 1/4 and some nearly all as dont want to waste time/money if not really suitable.
