Another SB scopeless/No Scope rifle sight

Post by some bloke » 08 Dec 2014, 18:57

Another No-Scope rifle sight with an EJ230 camera inside. This is no ordinary EJ230 - it is a 'some bloke' EJ230 with the obstructive (for us) rear mounting spigot faced off for easier access to the joystick - and the front of the housing has been turned off to make it fit more lens variations. The plug and play cables have been cut and hard wired so the camera no longer qualifies for the manufacturers warranty. It has a used F1.4 75mm TV lens that would originally have cost about £300.

Three grubscrews are now fitted in the outer 'C' mount tube to aid matching the POA to the POI with a central crosshair: Use the grubscrews for the rough zero then fine tune the crosshair with the camera joystick.

This has no external cables running to battery packs etc and the monitor vents are enclosed inside the pod, it is a totally self contained unit.

The 75mm TV lenses used for this build are getting very hard to source for what most of us would feel is the right money. I only have two of these optimum TV quality lenses available now. One has the focus permaneantly locked at infinity - and this one which has print missing and a dink in the body. Please study this photo very carefully, I have deliberately zoomed in and held the item in a position that accentuates the flaw rather than use a photo that skims over it:

These 5" monitor devices are the only NV displays that do not cause me any eye-sting.

It can be used in a head up position - or a head down cheek weld position with the monitor about 10 inches from the eye, an earlier version is shown in this photo:

This has an RCA out socket for DVR recordings and runs on two 18650 rechargeable batteries (not supplied) with the standard LCD screen or 4 CR123 batteries are better if using a DVR to record your shots ( I have not tried rechargeable ones). Batteries are accessed by removing the monitor which is connected via an (umbilical?) Servo cable:

This is how the monitor is fitted and removed:

At typical subsonic range it rarely requires an illuminator to be used to spot then stalk up to your rabbits and sometimes even take the shot: Though there will be periods of very dark when an IR has to be used - and periods when you can see several hundred yards without an IR.

Few NV users using add-on rigs can imagine the covert capabilities of this rig at subsonic ranges without spending several hundred pounds.
Here are some of the extra despatch tool aspects you can expect in some conditions.

You can expect this massive advantage on a foggy night for example:

See this performance in good moonlight conditions:

Anticipate needing to use an illuminator in poor moonlight though:

Hi Hodge - welcome to the forum.

I'm slightly dyslexic lol and after trying to edit the post so many times before I got it to look right it seems I had removed the price. Thanks for asking me to clear that up.

The usual price is now £480 with the 75mm lenses getting ever harder and more expensive to source - with no batteries or illuminator.

This one has been sold but I have another 75mm lens and EJ230 on the way for another build by the weekend.
I can supply cheaper lensed options for air and subsonic ranges at about £350 depending on the excact lens I supply it with,
