Hi, been shooting for years and enjoy lamping bunnies and fox.
I`ve just bought a Yukon photon xt as the lamp is spooking more and more each time I`m out.
After reading a few threads about the xt on various forums, I`m not too sure as to how I should set it up on the gun.
It will be going on a cz .22 rimfire.
Can I just use it straight out the box, or do I have to modify It in any way?
I also need to know what mounts I can use.
Any help or input would really be appreciated, and try and use non techy lingo as I`m getting on in the years.
jase.

Re: New to n/v and stumped
Hello Jase. Welcome to the forum.
I'm sure that an XT owner will be along to advise, but in regard to mounts, you may be lucky and manage with run of the mill ones. However, if you encounter elevation or windage problems on zeroing (can't get enough adjustment to have the crosshairs in the middle of the screen and maybe a cropped screen) you may have to resort to the Sportsmatch ATP66 which are fully adjustable.
Performance would be aided by a three-position T20 illuminator, which means that you'll be able to adjust the illumination to suit the range/surroundings.
Hope this helps.
George

Re: New to n/v and stumped
Thanks for the reply George.
So I need 30mm mounts and a t20?...I`ve read about owners putting a cap on the front also and drilling a 25mm hole in it.
Are the t20`s all roughly the same price or is there a certain model that`s best?
How and where is the T20 mounted on the gun?
sorry bud, but we all have to start somewhere

Re: New to n/v and stumped
I believe that there's provision on the side of the XT to mount an illuminator.
Get in touch with either 'Marky610' or 'some bloke' on here and one of them will point you in the right direction regarding the correct flashlight and a mount to suit it.
I believe that the new T38 would also be an option for you, though I haven't personally used one.

Re: New to n/v and stumped
As George said basically.
You should be able to mount it using standard high 30mm mounts but if you struggle to zero it then the sportsmatch adjustables are the jobby.
The T20 illuminator has been replaced by the T38, same performance as the T20 just a smaller neater package. They come with 3 'modes' as in three brightness levels, you will always find one thats right for the occasion.
You could fit a cap with a 25mm hole and find a bit of an improvement but I never have found the need.

Land Rovers, who would be daft enough to own one?

BKL 2 Piece 1 Inch Weaver Adapter for 11mm Rail - uttings
utg 30 mm quick release weaver mounts
if you want to keep using day scope during the day and just stick your xt on with no hassle at night try looking up the adapters and mounts above. There are lots of difent makes and prices but basically once u zero both scopes you can swap between the two within seconds. Have been doing it all this year and never lost zero.
I have the photon mk 1 although you can use it during the day is basically crap in comparison to a decent day scope.
Agree with Marky610 my photon came with the adapted cap, never used it. Better spending ur money making it quick and easy to swap scopes.
