Re: New Member
the standard UF-T20 probably loses 50yrds to a nightmaster and does all you list apart from the pressure swich, you could always solder one in
the pills take less than a minute to change. but at 15 quid a torch why bother?
the one in my pic above uses a 78mm aspheric. xsearcher uses a 66mm.....the bigger the better with aspherics generally...but that one is more than you need

Re: New Member
Ok so assuming I went for the T20 I'd expect to get out to 250yds of useable light without spill? Where would I order the 78mm aspheric lens from along with the pill if I wanted a second? Shame I don't have a soldering iron or the skills to attach a pressure pad. I could be tempted by that, it certainly does seem cheap.sunndog wrote:the standard UF-T20 probably loses 50yrds to a nightmaster and does all you list apart from the pressure swich, you could always solder one in

i honestly don't think you need that 78mm job mate, it is a dirty great bruiser of a thing....all my conversions are infra red and i use a smaller lens for 300yrd fox's
heres the t20

if you wanted a second pill i'm sure ian (Sika stag) on here will do you one. but he charges about 25 quid for just a pill so if it were me i'd buy two torch's and just convert one to red.....but if your against the d.i.y option i imagine ian, mark or dave (somebloke) will sell you sommat

Re: New Member
Are the batteries rechargeable and do they come with a charger? Have you got an uprated lens or do you use the standard one out to 300 yards? Is it a nice clean picture at the range too? Marky has offered to supply a red pill one for £60 inc. Pressure pad and mountsunndog wrote:i honestly don't think you need that 78mm job mate, it is a dirty great bruiser of a thing....all my conversions are infra red and i use a smaller lens for 300yrd fox's

To be fair I haven't seen anything on here that can beat it and is available to buy now with all the bits.. If there is could you point me in the direction so I can have a look. I'm edging toward the T20 but concious that I haven't really seen much else

Either of what has been suggested will serve you well.
I use what I sell for exactly the same purposes and with the same gear as you and genuinely don't think you need anywhere near the spec you think you want but that will sound like I'm being off-hand. I can supply you with what red torch you need, rather than what you seem convinced that you need by next day RMSD.
Remote pressure switches are readily available for it - as are scope mounts, rechargeable batteries and chargers.
However I get the feeling you might be one of the people who will buy more than you need just because you can. Nothing wrong with that - some people buy big cars just because they can too, and NM800 sounds impressive right?
Have you taken into account that more light than you need to use is likely to cost you runners? A little less light could mean a few more bunnies in the bag.

Re: New Member
have you seen that cheap night master thread i nicked of the bbs?....nm800 i think they were 61 quid delivered from the u.s. and taclite have got the sole distribution rights for the uksome bloke wrote:night master? pffftt!

absolute rip off....and people may wonder why mark and i are always taking the piss out of them
elliot, my use is as an infra red illuminator and not directly comarable with visible light
distance with the red one would depend on what led mark puts in...i imagine it will be an oslon emmiter
i'v never tried a red oslon in a t20 meself but it will deffo do you for a rifle mounted lamp on a hmr
batteries will have to be bought seperatly, you will need rechargeable 18650's......most of our kind of torch's run on these and they arent expensive
just one more note on my piss taking of nm800's
i am a tight wad that enjoys tinkering. and these torch's are piss easy to build
so for me i'd rather wait a couple of weeks for bits and make somthing thats better and a tenth of the price of shop bought
and thats why i always reccomend people a t20 over one of your 501b's dave....i mean no offence but i can build an oslon powered t20 for less than half the cost of your top bannana 501
but like i say, i'm a tight arsed tinkerer

I wish I was one of those types of people, but with only £80 spare at the end of each month I like to spend it wisely, hence why I'm asking the questions on here
The NM800 I refer to is just something that appeals if I also intend to move on to centrefire rifles. I'd prefer to invest in one that can cover all the bases. Besides brighter lamps can be dimmed can't they - not sure it works the other way around?
