Mini magnum

Post by sunndog » 19 Feb 2021, 22:14

After much MUCH! Consideration Geoff and I have decided to remove Ian from the forum.

As most of you will know this has been brewing for some time and we think an explanation is warranted. we don't ban people lightly on here but Ian has had more chances than anyone else ever had.

To be clear this isn't a Clive ward thing it's a forum behaviour thing.
He was the most generally obnoxious person on here and thought nothing of brow beating anyone until he considered he'd got his way. To the point of both Geoff and I having multiple complaints from genuine members that they didn't feel they could talk about certain products without being attacked. Other members we've noticed have simply ceased to post...this isn't what NVUK is about, not by a long way!

He was given multiple warnings and even a weeks ban only moderated his behaviour for a week or so
He promised Geoff faithfully on the phone he would ease up which lasted only about 20 minutes. It's clear to us that it was either ban him or allow him to take over the place

Even this post is because he will no doubt be calling us sycophants and claiming me in particular is in someone's pocket
Ordinarily we would never put a post up explaining someone's ban and discussing them in this way but in Ian's case I feel the need to and frankly given the lack of respect he's shown us he doesn't deserve the consideration we'd normally show

There was little choice Adam, the bloke had a warning shot fired across the bows but was clearly too far gone down the path of 'someone is wrong on the internet' He also has difficulty comprehending people having online friends.

I almost posted up a popcorn stuffing meme about his agro but stopped in case he thought we were amused - it was frankly making the forum look bad. Some of us saw that happen to the BBS NV forum a few years ago.

Absolutely done the right thing, he was being mostly antagonistic to anyone who owned anything other than Pulsar, slated and ridiculed one member who was promoting another brand and then Stocked it himself, he’s upto the same games on other forums as well, hopefully they will get the ban hammer out as well.

Let’s hope we can get this great forum back to what it was.

I always thought he was a good point of contact regarding thermal and nv equipment but after reading the posts that he relentlessly carried on with slating the new Ward product he went down in my estimations he just couldn't leave it alone.
I for one look forward to seeing the new Ward in action

It is an unfortunate situation but I think you have done the right thing.

Trades people selling on and being involved with online forums is often a source of problems but in Ian's case he just couldn't leave it alone and frankly this outcome was almost inevitable for him. It's shame because in a lot of ways I respected what he was trying to say, he just wouldn't stop saying it.

What he could never grasp is that I never once told him he couldn't say what he wanted it was the manner in which he said it that was the problem.
Everyone has always been free to express their opinions on here, but there are certain expectations of courtesy and consideration for others

And yet the other party never seems to have had action taken when his dealings with forum members have been anything but courteous or considerate...

If you can find anyone who has posted with the level of self absorbed ignorance and continual harassment towards members as mini magnum and not been banned for it You're a better man than me

I am certainly not accusing Clive of harassment, but this forum and others are full of accounts of the way he has ignored customers. I for one wouldn’t deal with him because of it. I am not sticking up for Ian- never met him, never bought from him- and if he’s ignored your warnings then he can’t be surprised at your action. But reading threads on here relating to the other party involved, I can’t help but wonder why Clive is miraculously available and defended by you when he has a new product to promote but absent for long periods when his customers have problems.
